KI-Lab
AI for community representatives and NGOs:
achieve more with fewer resources
14, 23 and 24 October 2026

About the workshop

A two-day hands-on workshop where participants work in small teams to create products, services, and tools using AI and AI agents to address real challenges faced by communities, NGOs, and civil society organisations.

We start with a concrete problem and work step by step towards a useful solution. Participants learn to choose suitable tools, build a first working version, and test whether it delivers practical value.

Who it’s for
Our goal
To help teams reduce repetitive work, simplify complex processes, and free up time and energy for the people and socially important causes they serve.

We believe that thoughtful use of AI can ease workloads and make everyday work more manageable.

How we work
Most of the workshop is dedicated to practical teamwork supported by a coach. Our approach combines four elements:
  • Real challenge
Each team works on a problem that matters to a specific organisation.
    1
  • Clear goals and supportive accountability
Time constraints, achievable milestones, and gentle encouragement help turn ideas into action.
    2
  • Hands-on coaching
A coach helps teams understand unfamiliar concepts, overcome implementation challenges, and find the next manageable step.
    3
  • Learning together
Participants share discoveries within and across teams, learn from one another’s experiments, and build on what works.
    4
What participants learn
Participants practise:
We teach principles that apply across specific tools, helping participants adapt confidently as technology changes. During the workshop, all teams use a shared set of tools. This helps them move forward quickly, receive focused support, and exchange ideas effectively.

Supporting lecture

One focused lecture covers both the practical use of AI tools and agents for NGOs and civil society organisations and how to use them safely: core concepts, capabilities and limitations, handling sensitive information, checking outputs, and maintaining appropriate oversight of agents’ actions.

Participants apply these lessons directly to their projects.

What participants take away

Each team aims to create a first working version of its solution and test it against a concrete use case.
Participants leave with hands-on experience, an understanding of their solution’s strengths and limitations, and a foundation for implementing it in their organisation.
Teams scope their projects to produce a meaningful result within two days and identify what is needed to use the solution in real-world work.

Why AI literacy matters

Developing AI literacy is part of using technology responsibly. Article 4 of the EU AI Act, applicable since 2 February 2025, requires organisations within its scope to take measures to develop the AI literacy of staff and others using AI systems on their behalf.

The workshop supports this learning through practical experience grounded in organisational needs and risks. Participation alone does not establish regulatory compliance. European Commission guidance

The invitation
Bring a real challenge from your NGO or civil society organisation and turn it into a working solution in two days—with a team, a coach, and a practical understanding of how to use AI effectively and safely.
