DobRoBot

The “Network of Good Deeds” Sharing Bot.
Here you can find people who truly need your help, as well as those who can support you with professional advice, a useful item, or another “good deed.”
What is DobRoBot?
Many of us want to improve ourselves and the world around us. But our aspirations are often met with various challenges and tasks: finding a good hairdresser, learning new software, or designing a logo for a project.

In our hometown, we’re supported by family, neighbors, and a wide circle of friends we’ve known since childhood. In a foreign country, in a culture that’s not our own, it’s very difficult to build that kind of support network. We feel awkward asking a neighbor to borrow a drill or asking colleagues for a paid Zoom account.

And we aren’t exactly eager to help others ourselves. Sometimes we feel the urge to lend out our gathering-dust bicycle, or share knowledge or skills that are “rusting” from lack of use. But where to start?

Join DobRoBot—it’s a unique opportunity for the Russian-speaking community to share what you have and get what you need in return.
How does it work?
Get an invitation
Join the SFV Sharing group on Telegram and ask one of the members for an invitation to the “Network of Good Deeds”
Introduce yourself
Answer the bot’s questions, describe what kind of help you need, and what you can offer in return. This could be a useful item, a subscription to a digital service, or a service you’re willing to provide pro bono on a one-time basis.
Earn thanks and tokens
When you join, everyone starts with 2 tokens and 2 invites. We use tokens to thank other participants for their help: 1 thank you = 1 token. For every action—whether asking for help or helping others—you earn 1 invite.
Once you join the chat, post requests, invite new participants (use the /get_invite command), and thank participants for their help (use the /thanks command).
Let’s build a chain of good deeds together!

Take a look at what our participants are ready to share:

  • I can draw a portrait
  • I can help set up a WordPress CMS
  • I can share contacts in the academic community in various cities across Russia
  • I have extensive experience in event planning and can offer advice
  • Here you’ll find all the participants’ offers
The idea for DobRoBot was born at our festival during a hackathon, and it took shape as the video “Chain of Good Deeds” during the CoAnimate Workshop. Take a look at what inspired the participants and how they envision the project’s future.
