On 28 August, as part of the event ‘Day of Russian Germans: Traces of the Past, Paths to the Future’, the Europa-Labor project organised the ‘Wir sind Europa’ initiative. On this day, we invited participants to look at Europe from different perspectives — through their own political views, values and, of course, European traditions.
Participants took part in activities such as:
🎲
‘Europe’s Most Unusual Traditions’ —
a quiz created as part of Europa-Labor about the unexpected and amusing traditions of European countries. It proved to be a real draw for visitors: unexpected facts, amusing traditions and questions about various European countries had people guessing, marvelling and discussing the answers with one another.
🌍
‘Which European country shares your values?’ —
a quiz based on data from the European Values Study. Participants answered questions and discovered which European country’s residents they shared the most values with. The quiz is based on data from the European Values Study, in which around 59,000 people took part.
🗳
Vote2026go – a comparison of participants’ own political views with the positions of political parties ahead of the Berlin House of Representatives election. Participants answered
questions about politics and public life in Berlin, and were then able to compare their views with those of the parties standing in the Berlin House of Representatives election. This format not only encouraged people to reflect on their own views, but also made pre-election information clearer and more accessible.
It was precisely this format —
a combination of games, socialising and learning — that enabled us to talk about Europe in a new way. After all, Europe is not just about political institutions and shared values, but also about the multitude of cultures, traditions, histories and people who, together, make up its diversity.
Over 150 people attended the event and, to our great delight, there were
many young and enthusiastic participants among them! We received very positive feedback from those who attended our event!
Thank you to everyone who joined Wir sind Europa and explored Europe with us!Read more about the Digitales Europa-Labor project and its various formats here.
